Solar panels are not as innocent as we think

Solar panel, clean energy or time bomb!

Solar panel, clean energy or time bomb!

You must have heard about the many benefits of generating electricity from sunlight, such as: clean energy, cheap energy, etc.

This article spoils your thoughts and fantasies  about solar panels !!

This is about the first time that in this article the harms of solar panels are revealed.

Solar panel, clean energy or time bomb!

1. Solar energy industry like a time bomb

Tian Min, general manager of Nanjing China Recycling:

The solar industry is like a time bomb that will explode in the next two or three decades and destroy the environment  Because the amount of waste and trash resulting from it is very high and can not be easily recycled.

A Chinese manager , who did not want to be named, said:

We can send these panels to the Middle East where our customers have explicitly stated that they don’t want to buy high  quality panels, and only the low price is important to them.

1-Solar energy industry like a time bomb2. What is cadmium telluride?

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a new technology based on the use of a thin film to absorb and convert sunlight into electricity.  The use of cadmium telluride is growing rapidly and is now the second largest solar cell material used in the world. The first one is silicon.

3. Disadvantages of using solar energy:

 3-1 -Instability and reliability

Solar systems rely on the constant absorption of sunlight (especially subatomic particles called photons) which can easily  become rare. Electricity is no longer produced in a large area by forming a thick shadow for a long time.

3-2 – Geographical latitude

Although solar energy can be a good option in almost any part of the world with a minimum capacity, but with increasing distance from the equator, efficiency is greatly reduced.  For example residents of Vancouver in  Canada and St. Petersburg in  Russia in terms of solar points are in significant weaknesses.

3-3- Clouds

Clouds, especially in foggy or cloudy areas, reduce the power of solar panels.  According to the research results of the National Laboratory Renewable energy, “The source of solar energy in foggy or low cloud conditions is approximately 10% of the value in clear skies.”

Solar panels in Denver, Colorado are rarely covered by clouds because the city experiences only 30 to 40 cloudy days a year.Despite its proximity to the equator, Hilo Hawaii rains an average of 277 days a year, which can make it convert poorly in  solar power generation.

3-4- Night

The earth itself is a relatively large obstruction and disturbs the solar panels at night.

3-5-Size

A large solar panel is needed to afford the power of the entire building.  It is also possible that in rotating the pages around the sun in the sky, a battery would be  required.  Batteries can also take up a lot of space.

3-6- Breakdown

Solar panels are gradually damaged by ultraviolet rays.  Rain, snow, soil, temperature fluctuations, hail and wind  also cause hazards.

3-7-The staggering costs of solar energy

The number of solar panels needed to absorb energy for the whole house typically costs tens of thousands of dollars and the cost of generating electricity is much higher than electricity supplied by conventional sources. Proponents of solar power have argued that raising taxes would be a cost-effective solution to the tax burden.

A standard method for estimating the cost of electricity from solar energy is to use the “determine the cost of the entire system” method. This method is based on how much a producer is willing to pay to generate electricity that the money he has  spent to build a generator, returned it to him.

The US Energy Information administration said in a recent statement that solar-powered electricity compared to other technologies is the most cost-effective, and this is one of the worst drawbacks of generating electricity with solar panels.

Lightning generation costs about $ 693 per megawatt hour, more than double the cost of extracting wind energy and about four times the cost of extracting it from fossil fuels.

The latest estimate is the only analysis performed for large-scale service companies.  But the problem is that the installation of Solar systems are even more expensive on smaller scales, for example on the roofs of houses, because houses don’t have advantage to enjoy bulk purchases.

The battery farm, which requires solar energy, must be completely replaced every 10 years, and the rotten lithium is as dangerous as Nuclear wastes.

3-8 -Environmental pollutants

Cadmium telluride is a toxic and rare substance.  Cadmium is a toxic element that is abundant in the human environment. This element is present in the plastics, paint, battery industries as well as in agricultural fertilizers and in a variety of ways  Such as food, respiration, etc. enter the body and due to physical and chemical properties with some essential elements in metabolism interfere and cause various complications such as anemia, bone, liver and kidney disease .  On the other hand, the element of cadmium affects the kidneys and causes protein excretion in the urine.

This material (cadmium) is a necessary and main material for making solar panels. If the use of panels expanded as much as possible, Solar, this costly material will be expensive and workers can not be accounted for on a large scale due to depletion of production resources.

This is apart from the concern of its pollution.

Cadmium is harmless when it is sealed inside solar panels.  In case of leakage from the panel, cadmium can  damage  the environment badly. To prevent the penetration of this carcinogen into soil and water, the panels should be removed with extreme caution.

Solar panels require lead acid to ensure constant power supply to batteries, especially deep cycle batteries.  They contain lead and sulfuric acid, both of which are particularly toxic to marine organisms.  It is known that lead causes many disorders in children, including growth retardation.  Nevertheless, most of the material in dead batteries are recoverable.

Cadmium is one of the six known deadly and toxic substances.  However, cadmium telluride appears to be less poisonous than primary cadmium.

This does not mean that it is harmless.  Cadmium telluride if swallowed, inhaled or misused (like without Appropriate gloves and other safety precautions) is a dangerous toxic. Toxicity is not just due to cadmium content. A study showed The reactive surface of the quantum dots of cadmium telluride causes extensive damage to the cell membrane, mitochondria and cell nucleus.

The cadmium telluride approach is much more cautious in the EU and China.  Cadmium compounds, as carcinogens

are considered toxic in the European Union, while Chinese regulations only allow these products for export.  This issue of regulating the use of cadmium telluride is currently being debated in Europe.

3-8 -Environmental pollutants

The upward trend in the use of nature destroyer solar panels

3-9 -Solar plates cause wastage of water resources

Solar panels convert more than 85% of the sun’s energy into heat, and with its high growth rate it has become one of the main causes of global warming.

According to scientists, in the process of building solar energy systems, nitrogen gases, trifluoride and sulfur hexafluoride are produced which these materials are one of the strongest greenhouse gases that can have a detrimental effect on the environment several thousand times more carbon dioxide.  Expanding the use of solar energy destroys the last hopes of saving nature.

The least amount of dust in the solar panels has a high negative impact on nature and must be constantly cleaned and because of the sensitivity of the plates, the very high volume of water required.

3-9 -Solar plates cause wastage of water resources

With the expansion of the use of solar panels and with the increase in global warming, the last hopes of saving nature will be lost.

4 . Energy “plant fuel” instead of fossil fuels

During the process of photosynthesis, green plants convert light energy into chemical energy. Plant fuel is indestructible.  The most Plant fuels are trees.  When wood burns, it produces energy and the energy stored in the trunks of trees or plants is obtained  from the sun  and thus produces energy after burning them.

In Australia, Turkey, etc Firewood is used to heat  homes instead of using fossil fuels. And when wood burns, all kinds of gases and water vapor are released.  To prevent this, it is better to shrink the wood.  If we do this, energy is not wasted.

  • Willow trees are usually grown as plant   The stems of these trees are cut off when they are one year old.it doesn’t  take too long for many stems to germinate;  And grow.  Once every three years they become cut for their  firewood.
  • The seeds of plants such as turnips are rich in oil and in a process can produce liquid fuel from the oil of these plants which is called biodiesel. The oils needed for homes in the world are obtained from turnip farms.
  • They usually make agricultural fertilizers from animal waste, which is necessary for agricultural lands. When animal waste

decomposes releases gases called methane, also known as biogas.  Methane gases are good fuels which are used in power stations and even in the kitchens of people’s homes;  And the way methane is produced is that they are Buried in the ground; and  After they decompose, methane gas is produced.

5. Does not tree planting cause high consumption of water resources ??

Perhaps one of the things that some experts have said is comparing the rate of evaporation of vegetated land with non-vegetated areas.

They claim that vegetated surfaces absorb more water by absorbing and consuming water, and as a result it causes  higher evapotranspiration Wastes the bare surface of the soil.  Because the plant itself has evaporated and transpiration, and with the evaporation of soil, a large volume is wasted.

Probably assuming these people, in the Amazon rainforest due to dense plants we should be witnessing droughts and scarcity of  water due to evaporation and wastage of water through the same vegetation.

But very important points in understanding the mechanism of climate interaction, vegetation levels and water and soil have been neglected.

When it rains, it facilitates the impact of water on the soil surface by reducing energy and also helping the droplets to land gently on the soil surface and Water penetrates into the soil.  The greater the amount and variety of vegetation, the less direct sunlight hits the soil surface and as a result will evaporate less water.
